![]() Because of the tread pattern, the shoulders are much blockier than usual. Like its summer cousin and many other ultra high-performance tires, Comp-2 A/S treads are pretty loud when you wear them out too much. This is why there’s almost no hydroplaning, and, consequentially, better grip on wet surfaces. The entire system is designed in part to get rid of water as fast as possible. There are many smaller vertical channels, and together with the big grooves, they help transport the water to the edges and then out. They are designed specifically to battle hydroplaning. These grooves aren’t just for appeal, though. And don’t forget about the g-hooks, which improve the effect even further. Given the angular pointy shape of many blocks and bridges (shaped this way by the lateral grooves), this tread is very effective at sticking to the ground whenever you need it to. The reason for this decision is to increase the contact surface of the tread, no doubt. On A/S tires, there are three of them, but they are not particularly wide. It’s different from Comp-2, because the summer treads had two wide circumferential grooves. BFG brought a lot of interesting technologies to help it, but there are also simpler perks. The latter one helps with turns and driving around corners very much.Īs you can see, ensuring that a driver can be in full control of their vehicle regardless of weather, road condition or speed is the main objective here. As a consequence, you get improved traction on tread proper and on the sides. These little particles improve the grip whenever they touch the ground. If you drove in Sport Comp-2 before, you know about their g-hooks and g-control sidewalls. ‘Equal Tension Containment System’ makes these tires more versatile and easy to control. Chief among them is the ‘Performance Racing Core’ – it grants better handling in general and especially when you’re driving at high speed. Although you don’t want to use them off-road, they aren’t suited for it. It means, in addition to components that improve grip directly, you get the tread composition that can adapt to road conditions with ease – be that snow or ice. Silica is a good choice of an A/S tire precisely because this material is so flexible. This tire’s excellent handling capabilities are introduced by various technologies that make navigating different surfaces a doable task. But Comp-2 A/S tires do their job fine even so. ![]() If you want to be independent of weather conditions in winter, you’ll have to buy high-performance winter tires specifically for this purpose. This longevity is due in part to the tread-resistant composition that includes durability-improving fillers besides silica components.ĭespite all this, these treads are still much better in summer (on dry and wet) than in winter. Like their normal variation, they last for about 70,000 km worth of mileage on average, but this number can be decreased significantly if you drive them where they don’t belong – off-road, for instance. Inside the rubber body, you’ll find two steel belts made from durable materials and further covered in nylon to improve the strength and formidability of these all-season tires. When on snow or ice, its flexibility improves navigation and handling very substantially. That makes them more flexible, which suits the needs of an all-season tire perfectly. More control for precise cornering with 30% better wet and 8% better dry grip.** ( ** Based on internal subjective dry and wet autocross and subjective max handling test results vs.Like its summer version, Comp-2 A/S rubber body (and especially the tread) is very rich in silica components. Stops up to 16 feet shorter in the wet and even up to 9 feet shorter in the dry for more control entering the corners. the competition† on the track for 100% more fun on the street. Performance Racing Core (PRC) - Internal structure features a reinforced construction that delivers increased responsiveness, control and durability, as well as serious control in hard cornering.Sport Tread Design - g-Force Sport tread pattern provides proven stability and maximum cornering power while g-Hooks provide biting edges for grip at any cornering angle. ![]()
